How does the Vikings slot work?
The base game is a 5x3 grid that pays on 243 ways, so matching symbols only need to land on adjacent reels from the left, in any row. The top symbols are portraits of the show's warriors and shieldmaidens. Some Viking symbols land fully stacked, covering a whole reel, and that matters for the Hotspot.
NetEnt lists a hit frequency of 18%, which means roughly one spin in five or six returns something. Many of those wins are smaller than the stake.
RTP, volatility and max win
NetEnt publishes an RTP of 96.05% and a top payout of 5,600 times the bet. Evolution, which owns NetEnt, rates the volatility as mid to high. Put simply, Vikings pays less often than a low-volatility game, and a big share of its return sits inside Raid Spins. On ₹10,000 of total bets the theoretical return is ₹9,605, but that figure only holds over a very long run.
Our old page gave the same 96.05% RTP and called the game high volatility; we now use the provider's own rating.
Bonus features
Hotspot
When a fully stacked Viking symbol lands in the Hotspot, the other Viking symbols on the reels turn into that same character. The resulting wins are paid as scatter wins, so they do not depend on ways.
Shield Wall
A cluster of mystery symbols lands on random areas of the reels, covering several positions at once. It works in the main game and during Raid Spins.
Raid Spins
Raid Spins start by chance. The reels expand to 7x5, the number of ways jumps from 243 to 78,125, and the round has three Hotspots instead of one. This is where the 5,600x cap becomes reachable.
Vikings at Bons
Raid Spins on a 7x5 grid with 78,125 ways. 18+ only
Tips for Vikings
- Plan for a long session at a low stake. Raid Spins has no fixed trigger, so it can take many spins to arrive.
- Watch the Hotspot in the demo first. Once you know what a stacked Viking looks like, the base game is easier to follow.
- Keep a stop-loss and a win target, and walk away when you hit either.
- If a feature buy appears in your casino, treat it as an expensive extra and count it inside your budget.
